There’s a big problem at our school!
Kids aren’t eating their food and they just throw it away! A waste audit was done in October, with surprising results. Wildcats threw away almost 60 pounds of trash in 1 lunch day and 88% was NOT recyclable. That’s a lot of trash!
Mrs. Ferguson’s class has a solution, the share table. It is a place where kids can put their uneaten hot lunch items if they don’t want it. Then the next day, someone else can take the food if they don’t have a snack. If the food is not taken the next day, we will donate it to a food bank. That way food is not getting wasted or going in the landfill.
The food that can be shared must be from the hot lunch line, such as packaged snacks, like raisins, fruit with a peel, and spork packets.
Food from home that is not eaten, can be packed back up to take home.
Please help us keep M.E. waste free!!
