School Site Council (SSC) is seeking 2 parent/community members to join for the 2019-2020 school year. SSC plays an important role in making recommendations to the principal at the school site level for funding of school programs that affect student achievement. The SSC includes school teachers, staff and parents who work together with the principal to monitor the school budget and Single Plan for Student Achievement. Parent/community SSC members are elected by their peers (the parent community). SSC members have an obligation to make recommendations that will best serve their school’s students and the whole school community.
Successful School Site Councils ask thoughtful and challenging questions such as:
What are the goals and priorities of our school?
What data do we have that shows how well we are achieving those goals?
Are we progressing toward our goals?
Are there particular groups of students who are not doing as well as others?
What supports could we put in place to help struggling students?
How will we fund those supports?
How will we know if our programs are effective?
How will we know if we are achieving our goals?
If you have questions or if you are interested in the position, please email SSC chair Avneet Sangha (email@example.com) or Shital Bhakta (firstname.lastname@example.org) by May 31, 2019. Elections will only be held if more than two people are interested in serving on the SSC.
